This weekend Burlington, Vermont once again played host to the Vermont Brewers Festival. This year there were 36 breweries in attendance, 19 of which were from Vermont. The Alchemist from Waterbury, VT The venue, Waterfront Park, has to be one of the most scenic locations for a beerfest. The views of Lake Champlain at sunset were truly amazing (especially with a beer in hand).
Talk about a great venue! Lake Champlain
Cheers Vermont!
My picks for top three beers of the fest: 3. Alchemist's Wild Child (American Sour Ale) 2. Dieu du Ciel's Penombre (Black IPA) 1. Otter Creek's Barrel-Aged, Dry-Hopped Imperial IPA
My pick for Best in Show:
(Cocoa and vanilla stout,6.5% alc./vol.) Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans. Posted by Russ Labels: Beer Festivals |
